I thought it was paved with "good intensions".

Am I missing something here? Hidden message?

I think the flip-flops he's talking about are the ones done by our elected officials?

One common culprit of America's foot pain, especially during the summer, is the flip-flop.

Whether it be on the beach, at the grocery store or even in the office, people love to free their feet. But flat sandals are nothing but bad news, says Bob Thompson, executive director for the Institute for Preventive Foot Health, who doesn't own a single pair.

One of my good friends (an adult male) insists on wearing these things in public. I went to a Detroit Tiger's game with him him and looked down and he was wearing them at the ballpark. Obviously he is pretty clueless about survival in Detroit.

Just buy a bag of Red Man and show him the error of his ways.

Can’t stand having that piece of plastic jammed between my toes, I wear regular sandals instead.

He may be onto something. I've read news articles where the hoodlums kill for Air Jordan's. Never read about anyone killing for flip-flops.

I went to the podiatrist last week for a problem. We had a good talk about shoes. I told her modern shoes are too soft, she agreed. Your foot bends at the ball of the foot, not at the arch. The latest craze is shoes you can pretty much roll into a ball. Even high dollar athletic shoes are at fault in many cases. Flip flops? For me they equal too lazy to lace a shoe. Everywhere I go, I see people stumbling around in those things. I even see young people at church wearing them. Think you will defend yourself squishing around on a piece of rubber? Good luck.
Pain is the best teacher, but nobody wants to go to his class.

When the past smothers the present, there is only desperation. When the future absorbs the present, life stands still. In either case a decision must be made because you only live now and you are only what you are now.

I had a teacher in high school that wore Jerusalem cruisers year round (in Wisconsin). I'm perfectly happy in shoes. I've dropped enough stuff to appreciate having an extra layer of leather over my toes.
