I thought it was paved with "good intensions".
Am I missing something here? Hidden message?

I think the flip-flops he's talking about are the ones done by our elected officials?

I went to the podiatrist last week for a problem. We had a good talk about shoes. I told her modern shoes are too soft, she agreed. Your foot bends at the ball of the foot, not at the arch. The latest craze is shoes you can pretty much roll into a ball. Even high dollar athletic shoes are at fault in many cases. Flip flops? For me they equal too lazy to lace a shoe. Everywhere I go, I see people stumbling around in those things. I even see young people at church wearing them. Think you will defend yourself squishing around on a piece of rubber? Good luck.
Pain is the best teacher, but nobody wants to go to his class.

I had a teacher in high school that wore Jerusalem cruisers year round (in Wisconsin). I'm perfectly happy in shoes. I've dropped enough stuff to appreciate having an extra layer of leather over my toes.
