Sinus "pain" when firing some ammunitions/calibers?

Anyone else feel this odd pain between your eyes from what seems like the air pressure blast from the round firing...sounds weird, but it's only with large caliber pistols with loud deep sound signatures hurt my sinuses every single shot. My buddy shot a .40 Taurus the other day about 4ft away and I felt the pain, and I was shooting a .38s revolver the next day and could feel that pain. Am I a big Nancy, or does anyone else feel this?

There is some connection between the nose (sinus) and the ears (hearing). Whether or not anyone else suffers from it does not make you a Nancy. I wold get it checked out with an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor.

It's just kinda odd, I wear ear protection every time out...some guns of the same caliber don't affect me whatsoever. Fired shotguns all my life, never once...just pistols.

It may be possible you could have some minor blockage that accentuates the sound pressure as Guantes suggested you might want to check with an ENT specialist.

I used to get the same thing when I shot my AR with a mini y comp. The pressure made it tough to stand. I also get close to the same effect when I shoot a short barreled 357.

I get that pain when I hear certain people talking.

Some rounds can have a bit of a "shockwave." I assume this is the feeling one feels in their bones/chest, so to speak, when someone is firing something like a magnum pistol indoors, or even a shotgun. If you're shooting, you don't really notice with the recoil and all, but someone standing near you but not shooting will notice.
