Yes it can and does happen anywhere. Just my feelings but civil disobedience like this needs to be delt with quickly and firmly. Pain is a great teacher. My $.02 and mine alone.

I've seen some pictures. Burning police cruisers, breaking into every store they can find, even throwing tear gas canisters back at riot police. One report I read said the riots may have been started by the hockey fans, but at some point some anarchists took the opportunity to wreak a little havoc of their own.

I've always believed that sports riots are the absolute lowest form of human behavior.
Even rape and murder, deplorable as they are, have motivations and goals, albeit terrible ones.
Sports riots are violence and destruction for violence and destruction's sake.
I've always been in favor of a 'wood shampoo' for rioting thugs.

A barrage of rubber bullets would cool their enthusiasm,You wanta get drunk and stupid and turn into a buncha raving animals then you are a serious threat and need to be dealt with,rubber bullets are less than lethal especially when ricocheted off the pavement,they can kill if they hit somebody just right or at too close a range,but if people knew they start ariot they get shot,they wouldn't be so quick to riot

Rioting is fun. You get to act stupid, destroy stuff, hurt people, and steal. All in the safety of numbers. Simple solution is to make it not fun. Maybe even painful.
