Just had a thought about how the gun world and car world could be related....

Ok, I know I'm young (just 23 this year). And I'm just now getting around to watching the 2nd Die hard movie. But, I've noticed how Glocks have not really evolved since this movie was made.

And, as for the car world, The Porsche hasn't much evolved either.

Both Porches, and Glocks are German.

Anyone else see where I'm going here?

I'd still rather have a GLOCK than a Porsche, especially the GLOCK 7 (it's made of ceramic and invisible to airport scanners)

Mostly the 911 line. It's supposed to be the cream of the Porsche crop. Especially lately; no real body changes, just internals.

    +1.

The Porsches of today share a strong bloodline with those of the past, and a blast on a race-track is all that's needed to verify that...but non-evolved? That's certainly not quite accurate.

I didn't clarify very well- I meant aesthetically; the 911 line, and the Glocks all look like they haven't changed much.

    Glocks are Austrian...
    Daddy Warcrimes likes this.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

    That I'll agree with.

I think that 911s were among the first cars that my daughter was able to tell apart from everything else.

Well, now Porche is German, British, Italian, and who knows what all else since VolksWagen owns them all. So, we could really just say that they're all European.

I was joking when I mentioned it.

The Corvette lost it's way a couple times, and even missed a year of production, but the 356/911 family is like watching a fine Bourbon age. It is the only foreign car besides a W123 Merc I would own.

I was one of the first kids on the block to own a GLOCK, but will never go back unless they do a single stack compact nine.

But, yes, I see the parallel evolutions.

Which is why the M1911 is celebrating its 100th birthday. :)

First of all, it is Porsche. And yes, they have evolved dramatically over the years. The introduced two new SUV's in the past 3 years and they have created new models that are very different from the early day models.

Second, Glocks are not German...they are made in Austria. I think they have not evolved, because their design is revolutionary and still what all other pistols are compared to. What I do agree, is that they need to come out with more variants of their designs such as a carbine, a shotgun, pocket pistols and more models in the single stack version.

In conclusion, I don't see where you are going with this thread.
