Facebook should be free. At least on my wifes phone I'm pretty sure it is.

If you paid for Facebook you got ripped off.
My favorite app varies by my mood/interest... but Tapatalk comes in handy pretty often.
Disclaimer:
My opinion shouldn't be taken seriously due to the fact that I've been shooting guns for over 30 years and have only recently been active on gun forums, where all the real world knowledge apparently is.

TIKL is also pretty neat. I've been using Bump too... although you gotta be cautious with that one.

Pandora is a must.
Card Ace is great. Texas hold em online. I spend a ton of time on this great free app.
ESPN Score Center
Remote (controls your itunes library on your PC through your wifi network)
iheartradio
5-0 Radio - police scanner
The only good iPhone is a jailbroken iPhone
MyWi is a great tethering app. Has wireless hotspot capability, although it isn't free ($10). Well worth it if you ever need internet access on the go (especially if you have a laptop).
Backgrounder (if you don't have iPhone 4)
SNES A.D.X.+ is an SNES emulator. A lot more fun that most iPhone games. Especially the free ones.

KIK, a great instant messaging app that allows you to freely communicate with anyone on an iPhone or an Android platform. Was supported on Blackberry as well but RIM was upset that it was causing a drop in people using Blackberry Messenger (BB specific). I believe you can still use KIK on a BB but the messages are purposely delayed.
Forgot to mention it is free as well.
