My Dad has been hunting for another guard dog for the past few years. The last two he had were both Husky/Malamute crosses and were excellent at their job. Unfortunately, we lost them about two years apart, with the last one being about 6 years ago. I found an abandoned Border Collie pup about four years ago, and he's great at alerting us to other animals, and has even held his own against a Rottweiler once, but he's about useless when it comes to people. If the UPS guy knocks on the door, he hides under the couch. Anyway, my brother told us about a lady that was having trouble getting rid of her last Siberian Husky pup. She has slightly different markings, so nobody wanted her. Long story short, we went over to check her out and she wound up coming home with us. The best part is that she didn't cost a dime.

Love her eyes! What a doll. Sheba and Oreo will be fantastic buddies and help wear each other out. Congrats!

"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."
Thanks guys. She really is a great dog. She's also got a lot of the natural instincts we were hoping for. She seems to be picking everything up even better than the last two, and they were excellent guard dogs. We've had her for about a week now and it seems like you can tell her something once and she just gets it. It looks like she's going to be able do her job very well. Plus she can wear Oreo out pretty quick, which is something I've never managed to do. lol. He's always been like the energizer bunny, but she outlasts him every time.
We fenced in the other side of the house, so they have a large area to play in, and we even got them a small pool. The downside to that is now Sheba decided it's fun to roll around in the pool, then get out and roll around in the dirt. All in all she is pretty happy, and so are we. I think she's going to be a great dog, and a good buddy for Oreo.
I'm betting he thinks you brought her home, just for him too.
Glad you gave her a home.
