    I finally made it!!

After four trips through the years to Alaska, I finally pulled the trigger and moved here. The company that I work for wanted me up here on a job until 2017 and I took it. I've been able to do a bit of exploring and fishing, but have been busy getting settled into my home. I did feel the need to purchase a Freedom Arms 454 Casull for protection while fishing/ hiking. We actually had two Grizzly sows and their cubs hanging around town for a while, but they decided to move on as the easy food pickings got scarce really quick and game and fish officers made it uncomfortable for them. We were glad they moved along willingly as the only step after that was to destroy them. We have a large herd of buffalo (2500+) across the river right now on their calving grounds which is a great sight while driving to work. the picture I have added was taken about 50 steps off of my back porch.hayes mt.jpg

Good luck, it should be an exciting experience for you/family. Looking at the mountains in July, you better make sure you have plenty of long johns and parkas.

Alaska is a great place to live...we were there for 7 years.
Instead of an income tax, the state pays YOU...enjoy the beauty of the mountains!

That is some gorgeous scenery. Too bad about having to buy a .454 Casull for protection. The sacrifices we have to make sometimes. :-)

I already said that, and sold everything that couldn't be moved easily. I have family in the southwest but am here to stay, I have bought property and am planning on adding on to the cabin next summer. I have decided on a Jetcraft boat, and am in the middle of financing one, they are as necessary as a good 4X4 up here.
