If you ever find yourself in a gun battle underwater, the S&W M&P is clearly the handgun to have. :image035:

Glocks been there, done that long ago.
somewhere on the 'need-to-know' scale there is a place for this.....
Can't say I have ever felt the need to do that but interesting none the less.
I wonder how far the bullet traveled in the water. I'm also curious how this would affect the gun long-term, as far as rust.

at least 2 feet. :biggrin2:
The water will affect it the same as being in a heavy rain, after duck hunting I use to spray every crevice with WD40,it will repel water, also IIRC do not shoot a gun while submerged underwater without ear protection,or you will find it inherently painfull and can permanently damage your hearing
Good to know in case someone one jumps in the stock tank with me and endangers my life while i'm redneck chillaxing.
Well, now I have to buy the little kids a brand new rubber pool! :gah:
You win the prize:smile:

I'm glad I stumbled across this. When I wake up in the morning I'm constantly debating whether I should carry one of my M&Ps or my G19. Now I know if I'm going swimming what gun I should carry. Thanks for the post.:image035:
Good to know.
That'll make all those large snapping turtles much easier to kill. Rather than just using the Bowie knife to stick em, a shot with the .45 will be easier on the fingers.
2 feet? Wow. That is surprising being that ballistics gel should be thicker than water (I would think) and usually goes further than that. Also I've seen videos with 1-gallon jugs stacked together and seen .380 penetrate 5 or 6 jugs. That is more than 2 feet of water.
I guess if we were a marine species we'd have to find another way to kill each other since bullets wouldn't work very well.
On the other hand, I was reading an article the other day about shooting a bullet on the moon. Since there is no air and very little gravity, it will go a very long way. With a high-velocity round you might even be able to get it into orbit.
