Cell phones banned in banks (this will stop robberies???)
You just can't make stuff like this up......
Cell phones banned in banks
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Cell phones have been banned inside the five branches of the First National Bank in the Chicago area, to enhance security.
Even using a cell phone in the bank's lobby may result in the person being asked to leave the premises.
"We ban cell phone use in the lobby because you don't know what people are doing," Ralph Oster, a senior vice president, told the Chicago Tribune. Cell phone cameras are also a worry.
Oster said there have been holdups in which bandits were on the phone with lookouts outside while committing bank robberies.
"You're trying to stop that communication," he says.
Banks in Mexico City banned call phones in May and Citizens Financial Bank of Munster, Ind., asks customers to turn off their cell phones.
West Suburban Bank, based in Lombard, Ill., barred customers wearing hats in January but has not moved to silence cell phones.
Hey, Illionois, I've got an idea....why don't you let the law-abiding go armed? That might help more than banning cell phones.....

If we ban cell phones only the criminals will have cell phones.
Actually, I can understand the concern about the camera phones, but do they think that they are calling in an air strike? Or it's a detonator?
With some bank fees they take the shirt off your back anyway, the next step with "security" they may want you to take it off before you enter.

I'd like to see them tell people in the northern states that they need to leave their heavy coats in the car in the winter, might be hiding something under there.
Sounds like it's time to change banks, and just another reason to keep a stock of mason jars and a shovel handy.

The bad news these days is try finding a cell phone without a camera or other added crap. It's becoming close to impossible!

I guess I ''sorta'' see some (small) rationale here but heck - this is approaching things from a pretty wierd direction. Maybe folks should take shoes off before going in - in case some explosive device secreted in them.
Oh and definitely - long heavy coats in winter - they must go!
