I carry to protect myself and my loved ones from the BG's. Not to solve societies problems. That said: if more carried the deterrent would only have a positive overall effect on those problems.
Apparently, already an opportunity for someone...$34.95

This is my neighbor's sign here in NC:
I like this one:

Funny at first but that's really putting a target on you and your home.
First you're advertising that you have guns in the house...something worth breaking into a home for.
Second, now you're "that guy" in the neighborhood.
Same as bumper or window stickers advertising anything about gun groups or gun companies. You let everyone know that there may be a gun in your car and if not, there definetly is one at home.
No thanks, I'll stay discreet.
I don't carry a gun to look for or start a fight. I carry one to finish a fight I never wanted to be in.
A couple of low key security signs placed in the shrubs along your front walkway along with motion lights mounted in the eves on the corners of the building allowing light to be beamed down two sides of the structure. Perhaps a few very small window decals. Usually this would be suffient to discourage someone. If they do enter after all the above mentioned, it's likely they know you and want something specific. At that point it's time to mount video cameras up in the eves as well.
Ok im on my phone and can up load the image. But i live in a duplex, and the back door leads into the "common" hallway. Then there is a door to the left, 1st floor the neighbors, then there are stairs to go to the "upper", where i live. This is a sign that i posted at the top of the stairs. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg
So that way they know, they they might not wanna be in the house period, reguardless of mine or my 1st floor neighbors. But the backdoor to the common hallway is always locked, so if they come in its tresspassing reguardless.
Oh and i dont have a dog, but the neighbors do!

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!
I prefer to just leave a marrow bone laying in the driveway that my Rottie has worked over. I agree that posting anything that advertises you have a firearm can backfire. I too like the element of surprise.
No signs, No decals, No bones in the driveway.......just the sound of our male GS barking if you enter our property. If that doesn't change your mind........someone's gonna be in trouble.
