Starting to edge up on that age when being "old school" seems to be the default explanation for why someone doesn't know anything about anything that's happened in the last decade, I'm wary. I'd hate to be "old school" myself, without realizing it. ;)

So do Realtor's have "For Sale by Realtor Signs". I see your point about the Realor/Broker fees, but isn't it the seller's responsibility to pay those fees. Which wouldn't make any difference to a perspective buyer when they saw a house for sale.

As far as the vacant lot or separate location, if you parked a vehicle in a vacant lot or separate location. Wouldn't a sign that read "FOR SALE: Contact (555) XXX-XXXX" do exactly the same thing as "FOR SALE BY OWNER: Contact (555) XXX-XXXX"

    Indeed.

Of course, there are people who embody the good aspects of "old school" - a belief in tradition, a commitment to values like honesty and hard work, and so on - but I have just come across too many folks who will spout out "well, I'm old school" as an excuse to remain rooted in what they already know rather than putting forth effort to learn (or even understand) anything that has come about (or changed) since they "came up."

A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

First time I heard, "boots on the ground" was by Ted Koppel, Nightline, day three thousand something. I perked up then because I knew that we were getting somewhere. Still don't know what it means; but I'm glad the show is over.

"Liberal," "conservative," and all the other intellectually lazy political blanket labels.

And while not a phrase, it annoys me to death when people use words incorrectly when they write: sew annoying, hue no what eye mean?
