    Annoying Phrases

I just read another thread mentioning the overuse of "alegedly" and "apparently". I think it's funny because it annoys me too. I know a guy that has a board of phrases and words he hears at work that really annoy him. I thought about a thread of all those phrases and words that we don't like might be 1) educational and 2) funny. No offense to anyone that uses these phrases because I'm a nobody anyway and I'm sure I use some that annoy others too, but I want to know what bothers people.

Here are a couple that bother me:

"moving forward" (I don't know why but I wish "in the future" would be used or same variation)
"boots on the ground" (the only people I know to use the term have never been)
"outside the wire" (kind of the same as "boots on the ground")

I'm sure I'll come up with others but here's a start...

"At any rate", a pilot who worked at the hangar I work at would use that phrase quite a bit when telling a story.

not really a phrase, but constant overuse of the word "like".

i.e. I was, like, so happy...

I am guilty of overusing the word "actually." Really, is it ever needed? I use it mostly as an attempted polite way to say "You're wrong. Here is the right answer."

"Basically" They say basically and then go into a 10 minute discourse explaining whatever it was.

    Oh yea...and "whatever"
