Hurricane Irene
She blew in a little after 8 AM and she’s no lady. Doing well so far just a few limbs in the yard and a few shingles on the ground. Winds have been running 45 mph with gusts to 60+ (anemometer doesn’t go higher) with light rain just flying by. Power is on but has been flickering on occasion. Been watching the reports from the coast and things are a bit rough for them. Looking forward to Irene getting tired and moving on.

Things are beginning to settle down now; only damage seems to be a few shingles and wind-pruned trees. Regrettably, just north of us a man was killed when a tree limb struck him as he went out to feed his livestock.

Yeah trees are killers in the wind. So far, I've heard of 5 dead and 600,000 out of power.

About the same for us here in Granville County. Wind, rain and falling trees/limbs. I managed to get one tree across the driveway cut in thirds and pulled off enough for the wife to get in the driveway. Glad she's gone.
