If he had initiated this fiasco on his own I believe they would have had no problem with firing him. The fact that they are doing this to protect him tells me that he was following orders from someone higher up.

I'd love to see Mexico file arrest warrants and extradition proceedings against everybody that was involved in allowing the Illegal importation of firearms into their country

No one in that high a position ever loses their job. They end up with a lateral transfer to another area, likely with same grade of pay and benefits in order to get them out of sight, out of mind.
The only ones to ever lose a job will be the low end rank and file.
Corruption at the highest level is the order of the day. Many of those involved should be inside a prison cell. A Mexican prison cell at that.

I understand what you are getting at. But I have yet to understand how WE can be responsible for ALLOWING guns into THEIR country. Do they not even check the southbound lanes? Or do they expect us to do that too? Don't they have some responsibility there too?
