    Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office

A deputy responded to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center on Saturday to speak to the victim of an accidental shooting that he said involved his cat.

The man told the deputy that about 7:30 p.m., he was getting his medication out of a gun safe at his home on Strange Court. As he did so, his cat jumped on top of the safe, knocking a .32-caliber pistol to the floor. When the pistol hit the floor, it fired and the bullet hit him below the left knee, an incident report said.

Investigators checked out the man’s home and found no signs of a struggle.

    No charges have been filed.

I have heard plenty of excuses for accidental discharges, but not one that was blamed on a cat. Yeow!

Most likely he got the pistol out, began to play with it and shot himself. I bet he was too embarassed to admit it, so he blamed the cat.

A dog would never do something like that.

It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

The cat must have watched Boondock Saints and was thirsty for some revenge.

In all reality the story could be true,we have no idea where the entry wound was located,it's very possible it was angled from the floor up which would indicate an AD from a dropped gun, even tho most guns have been drop proofed, anything mechanical can fail

This guy lives on an appropriately named street, "Strange Court."

And I am ready for Spartanburg to get some good press.
