New show 'Terra Nova' - they seem way under-gunned for dinos
So I've watched the 2-hour premiere and the first weekly 1-hour show of "Terra Nova". It's an interesting premise, where some of the residents from a horribly polluted Earth (circa 2154 AD) are sent back 85 million years into the past, to establish new homes. Of course, this is the Cretaceous era, and the 'new' neighborhood is full of dinosaurs (which we all love to watch on TV and movies).
I've seen them shooting at assorted dinos, with seemingly little effect. I'm totally perplexed, as you'd think in 2154 AD they would have much more lethal weaponry than we currently have. It seems like they'd be better of with a old-fashioned BAR or a Ma Deuce (and maybe some AP rounds). I don't know what they're using, but it just seems like they are terribly under-gunned for dinos.
Anyway, just curious if anyone else is watching, or has picked up on this.

Well if they had those things the program wouldn't have made it half way thorough the premiere. They'd have killed off all the dinosaur and lived happily ever after.

It was pretty good. Actually better than I initially thought it would be.

.600 Nitro Express. And a pith helmet and khakis. A monocle and handlebar mustache are preferred, but not required.

Going to continue watching. A little slow at times but willing to give it a chance. Sons Of Anarchy on the other hand....theres a show where they are not under armed and is pretty heavy on the action.
Been calling it like I see it since 1988 and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

I like the basic premise of the show. I've seen the first two episodes now and its definitely something I will continue to watch, but there are a lot of inconsistancies that are a bit off. For example, how do they plan on surviving what killed off the dinosaurs and most life on earth in the first place?

OH Man! crazy time loop. Dinosaurs died because humans went back in time and killed them. Then they recycle seasons because of the time loop. Keeps the budget low.

The pilot mentioned that the gateway went not only through time, but to an alternate / parallel universe. This was covered by the beacon that they sent through that never arrived in the future / present. Perhaps nothing kills off dino in this universe?
As far as the weapons go, they mentioned some of them being sonic. The ones that shoot green stuff, look like plasma to me, but then I have been playing too much Fallout 3. In any case, I agree, seriously under gunned, considering they can bring stuff with them.

"A Gun for Dinosaur" by L. Sprague de Camp written in 1956.
600 nitro is minimum!!
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.
this not only makes life interesting, it makes it dangerous too.

The show has a bit of a 'green' agenda to it.
I doubt we'll see many dino casualties at all.
To kill dinosaurs for being what they are, just wouldn't be right.
My bet is that the focus will be on non-lethal solutions.
