Now that was cool. I have had a few encounters with them, but never like this.
Closest I came was creeping up on a fairly large Doe in the middle of a small road until finally stopping the vehicle, getting out and taking two steps towards her to shoo her off the road so I could continue. She was standing her ground, but walked just barely off the road surface and glared at me as I drove past. I guess she thought it was her road, and I was the intruder.

I think I know the "rest of the story." Some years ago, my hunting partner and I both scored good-sized spikes on opening day (in CT). We field-dressed them and let 'em hang at my buddy's place for a few days before butchering them.
We did mine first, then tackled his. When we first started peeling the hide off, there was an "off" smell that seemed odd. The more skin we peeled off, the worse the smell. By the time we had half the hide off, it was clear that the deer must have been hit by a car. There wasn't a hand-sized area of flesh that wasn't bloodshot and rotting! I think the poor guy was hit by a car and ran off into the woods, only to wander past my buddy's tree stand at first light. We couldn't even bring ourselves to take the straps, it stank so bad. That carcass was "recycled" at the local landfill.

That's a very nifty video. good for the Deputy for going the extra distance to get the doe to safety.

I couldnt carry this one, so I just shot it yesterday.
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.
