Don't they all wear bullet proof vests?

I don't think "all" LE officers wear ballistic vests. That's an expense that many agencies are unable to foot for their entire staff of patrol officers.

Friendly fire is nothing new actually. What it all comes down to is training....after that comes common sense and what the human brain is able to discern and put into action. Human beings are far from the smartest on the planet no matter what you have heard. Also......law enforcement are far from being infallible even though they elected to be put in the position. Behind the badge they are just like you and me except judgement has been placed in their hands. You can't trust anyone actually, even your brothers on the same mission. Be careful out there. Trust has pretty much gone away with the wind.

This story had nothing to do with friendly fire, or training.

Sounds like he knew that he was guilty and decided that he didn't want to stick around for the party. Suicide by Cop.

Something tells me that it coulda been a shot from an AR15 that would have penetrated a threat level 2 or 3 vest.

Vests are just that, vests. They are not magical force fields that stop all things coming into their domes of protection.

I'm wondering what was so imperative the arrest had to be made in that fashion.
