    Bob Evans firewall

I work on the road and eat out 95% of my meals. I lurk around here and many sites and was surprised today that he Sig website was "banned due to content about weapons.". Turns out even good old' Bob Evans has a bit of an agenda. I didn't notice a sign saying no CCDW...

I'm kind of surprised, and a bit disappointed. I won't stop eating there, but I'm still disappointed. Thoughts?

I doubt the brady gang or vpc are blocked.

I'm not sure I only looked at the one website before I was turned off and moved on to something less interesting... I'll check again next time.

Is it Bob Evan's or that particular store manager who installed the firewall? Try it at another store and see if still blocked. After that check to see if Brady Campaign and other anti sites are blocked. If they are not, have a talk with the manager, as well as a e-mail to corporate HQ.

Both Bob Evans in my town block any "weapon-related" website. I'm pretty sure that includes this very forum.

If they are using a content blocking firewall/proxy one checkbox on the category "weapons" will block every site categorized as such whether they are legal, illegal, collectables or any other classification you can think of. I'd all most bet they are blocking porn and other questionable content. It may have very little to do being anti CCW or 2A and just corporate policy to block certain questionable categories of web sites.

A 3rd party is typically responsible for the review process of the sites, Bob Evans has little control over that.

The page you want reviewed is sigsauer.com (check another site)
This page is currently categorized as Weapons

The Brady website isn't categorized as Weapons so it's probably allowed.

The page you want reviewed is Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence : Home (check another site)

It's in the standard SonicWall firewall-in-a-box software settings. I see that at BE as well, if I am on their wireless network.

    Use a proxy. Problem solved.

If you want those sites, at anywhere trick the firewall. These idiots cant try to block the sites, but use a proxy. Tricks the firewall. For example, go to google type "proxies" in the search bar, click one. Go to that sites "search bar", its actually a url bar. And thw firewall thinks you are viewing Ask.com - What's Your Question?, but really within that page you are on DC forum. I do it at work all the time.

Another way around it is to go into your network settings on the laptop, phone, or whatever you're using and manually enter a DNS address of 4.2.2.2. That way your phone will go to a different DNS server for Internet content and won't be flagged by the one their using. If you don't know how to do this, let me know what you're using (and Windows version if your're on a laptop) and I'll try to help.

You can also try a proxy website, but my experience is that if they've gone as far as to ban categories of websites, they most likely banned all proxy sites as well, but it may be worth a look. It's easier than changing the DNS address as I talked about above.

every proxy site I've ever been to has resulted in me dealing with viruses... not something I want to do on a company pc... what you do is up to you.
    Rats!
    It could be worse!
    I suppose
