I saw this last night and was cracking up. All kids (heck, all people) are spoiled and selfish to varying degrees, but this kid (she has a CLEANING LADY?!) sounds like a real piece of work. I hope Dad sticks to his guns (no pun intended) and keeps his darling daughter completely out of the digital world until such time as she can afford her own computer, internet, and so on.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

I wonder if he put the laptop back in the carry case and put it back in her room so she could discover it.

There's still hope. Thank God not every parent is obsessed with nurturing every desire and whim of their child, so as to not stifle their dreams and wishes.

It looks like Dad has a temper. I wonder where his daughter got hers from.

If you don't take the time to make them behave at 4 then they are not going to respect you at 14. Killing a laptop seems a little over the top to me but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I hope it works but I that doubt it will.

It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

I know I'd be a contributing poster in that thread!

Yah - I'm way too cheap to sacrifice an innocent laptop. Confiscate it for the use of a more responsible owner perhaps, but I suppose the man can choose to make his point how he wishes.

Oops, I just (re-)posted this. Feel free to dump mine.

Another possible source of his kid's anger/angst is that she is a child of a divorce.

I saw this on my Face Book page today. The guy was really torqued up to say the least. His daughter must be a real jackass thinking how "bad" she has it at home. Time will tell when she gets out into the real world with that "attitude" and see just how much society cares about her. Trust me, it doesn't.

Did he go over the top? Pehaps a bit, does make him look a bit like a looney although I'm not so sure I wouldn't have done something like that myself. At least he didn't go and put a smack down on her physically.

He should have gotten Tom Knapp to toss it into the air, then disintegrate it with a 12 guage. Now THAT would have been worth watching.

Father of the year? Paid seminars?

The original post is pretty stupid. He's just a dude who got pissed off at his bratty kid. He can do whatever he wants, but it's not some spectacular thing.

Just because some video has a gun in it doesn't mean it's a gift from God.
