Funny Event at Men's Wearhouse Today
I had to run to Men's Wearhouse today to pick up an order that had come in from their catalogue division. It was nicely packaged in a box with tape all around the edge. The gal that was helping me was trying to find something to open the box with and I finally said just hand it to me.
I pulled out my EDC knife and opened the box. She said - a man bearing weapons. I said nah, that's not a weapon, that's a tool. She said I like that term better. I am internally smiling to myself thinking, the knife is a tool, the G30 on my waist and the LCP in my pocket are weapons - but she never knew.
She was not being rude and the event was in no way a negative event. I just thought it was funny.

I agree with you, but I doubt I could have sold her on this interpretation.

We as gun owners and carriers are a reflection of the system and as so we need to educate the non carrying public; This is a good example of that education

Good thing you don't have "Crocodile Dundee" syndrome and whipped out a bowie knife, nothing better to make your day than to hear a lady gasp oh my god that thing is huge.Yes maam but it's only a tool

I've pulled out my pocket knife in similar situations to open a box, package, etc...... and it's nothing unusual at all, and got "Oh my God " ... out of the clerks for some reason. Never understood it, it's just a knife. I've had them even ask me , "is that legal" ..... and I just asked them ... " to carry a pocket knife to use to open things .... well yes, why wouldn't it be ? " .

Oh, for CRYING OUT LOUD! Let's not have THAT discussion, again!
OP,
I had a similar situation, once. Problem was, the store (not MW) manager came over and demanded that I leave immediately or she would call the police. The clerk laughed and tried to explain. Since I hadn't paid yet, I just turned around and walked out.
