In AZ, we don't participate in such nonsense

I still haven't fixed the date on my watch from leap day, and now this...

Wish the heck they would just leave it alone. Never did understand the practical need for doing it.

That about explains government 'thinking', all right.
"Historical examination of the right to bear arms, from English antecedents to the drafting of the Second Amendment, bears proof that the right to bear arms has consistently been, and should still be, construed as an individual right." -- U.S. District Judge Sam Cummings, Re: U.S. vs Emerson (1999)
We should not ever question these things. It is dangerous to question some things. When told to SPRING AHEAD we blindly spring ahead.
When told to "Fall BacK" we do not ask WHY we should fall back...we just obey and we fall back.
If we are told to jump we may ask How High? but, never WHY!
If told to spit it is permissible to ask "How Far?" but never, ever, "Why Do Want Me To Spit?
Get with the program Sheeple!
Everybody stay safe out there. Here's a study that shows heart attacks and accidents go up after the clock changes.
The Switch to Daylight Savings Time Can Kill You
Of course, at my age, the slightest shock could tip me over.

Well, you may have noticed that the number of daylight hours actually increases from the end of December through the end of June. The thinking on daylight savings time is that if you get started earlier while the daylight hours are greater, you will have more time to enjoy the day, use less energy lighting up your life and make better use of your recreational time.
One of our founding fathers - Ben Franklin - proposed the idea.
The Navajo Nation participates in the Daylight Saving Time policy, even in Arizona, due to its large size and location in three states.
Interesting anecdotes about DST:
Daylight Saving Time - Incidents and Anecdotes
It appears to be safer:
A study by the U.S. Law Enforcement Assistance Administration found that crime was consistently less during periods of Daylight Saving Time than during comparable standard time periods. Data showed violent crime down 10 to 13 percent. It is clear that for most crimes where darkness is a factor, such as muggings, there are many more incidents after dusk than before dawn, so light in the evening is most welcome.
and it might save oil and bring down gas prices:
Following the 1973 oil embargo, the U.S. Congress extended Daylight Saving Time to 8 months, rather than the normal six months. During that time, the U.S. Department of Transportation found that observing Daylight Saving Time in March and April saved the equivalent in energy of 10,000 barrels of oil each day - a total of 600,000 barrels in each of those two years.Likewise, in 1986, Daylight Saving Time moved from the last Sunday in April to the first Sunday in April. No change was made to the ending date of the last Sunday in October. Adding the entire month of April to Daylight Saving Time is estimated to save the U.S. about 300,000 barrels of oil each year.
Beginning in 2007, Daylight Saving Time commenced on the second Sunday in March and ended on the first Sunday in November, thereby saving even more oil.
Or, maybe it is just better to curse the darkness than to light a candle and assume that anything you don't understand must be the result of some subversive activity or stupid governmental policy.

Springing forward, meh.
I remember one year, I failed to set the clock forward and showed up at my church an hour early. Couldn't figure it out and quipped that the "Rapture" had occured and I missed it.
Went back home, made a pot of coffee and then my dad telephoned me, to ask if I had remembered to set the clock forward. No, I admitted, I didn't. I did make it to church on the right time and set all the clocks in my house ahead so I wouldn't show up early for work on Monday.

I can't figure out how daylight savings saves oil. I drive just the same winter or summer.
All it means is I have to work longer.

Another example of government butting into citizen's lives. Big waste of resources.
Its not really that absurd. The Daylight Savings Time law is just an attempt to put things back they way they were before we invented clocks. Before clocks people just woke up and started their day when the sun came up. The Sun is always set to allow the most daylight during any given day. We screwed that up when we invented clocks.
Daylight Savings Time is just us trying to fix our screwup.
