Just got back from the vet. Pooch got some stitches and some shots. The cuts were not so bad but one puncture from a fang most likely was deep. Not much blood at all last night. Vet said he was lucky. It just missed the canine jugular vein. He is resting right now. I am so glad he is OK!

It really isn't as surprising if you think about it. Mommy bear just wants to create a safe zone for her babies. My pooch was able to be pushing her off while I was and trying to push him away. It only worked because Mommy bear decided to leave. If she decided to stay I would be writing from a hospital. Yeah, it was dum, and I do not recommend it for anybody.

Glad to hear your dog is fine. Can't help but think you need a BUD.
Dogs are pack animals and two would present a more formidable challenge to your weekly trespassers.

I shot an elephant in my pajamas one night.

How an elephant ever got into my pajamas I'll never know.

You are probably crying more from the bruins losing;-(

Glad to hear all is OK, good thing NH doesn't have grizzlies. Had a bear encounter in white mts while hiking long ago. Bear went from campsite to campsite ripping open coolers, car doors! etc. was worried it would come into the little tent we had.

Definitely did the right thing. How could you aim well enough between dog and bear tangling in the daytime, much less a qtr moon last nite!

I can't blame you for taking care of your dog, family pet's can become just that......family. Our pets take care of us, and we take care of them.......there is a bond.

Now I no squat about bears, but apparently bears have a strong mothering ability trait. I see it in 90% of cattle, actually some of them can get downright violent and upset when you mess with their calf. I know first-hand, I've been a victim of that "mothering ability", I didn't hold it against the cow she was just being a good mama. I am wary about her though. I'd hate to kill a bear, and would try my best not to, but given the option I plan on going home.
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME. Our success in this will be proportional to how hard we work to make it happen.
