Somewhere deep in the ATF report they do admit that most of the guns are from government to government sales.

The newly released data show that from 2007 to 2011 in Mexico City, the ATF traced 99,691 firearms from their manufacture to the retail point of sale. Of those weapons,
68,161 were U.S.-sourced weapons, the ATF said.

Holy crap, is there anyone there with a brain??? How many AR-type guns are manufactured in MEXICO??? Just because a gun was manufactured ("originated") in the US, that doesn't mean an American dealer or owner sold that gun to someone in Mexico. The whole dang Mexican military uses M-16s which came from the US.
Beyond that, what's hidden in the "statistics" is the number or type of weapons the Mexes choose to "trace." Can anyone state with authority that ALL guns recovered in Mexico have been traced, or has there been some "cherry picking" going on to bias the numbers toward guns more likely to have been sourced in the US vs, say, Israel or Columbia?
These idiots need to DO THEIR HOMEWORK and understand the difference between where a gun was built and who sold it to the bad guys. I think I'm gonna puke.

So if I and some friends put together a plan and it went sideways and people, especially LE people died along with 100 or so Mexicans in Mexico, I am guessing that I and friends would be locked up and headed for a long stay at a federal facility. So why are the ones responsible for this travesty, not going down that road, instead of making speeches on how to stop it.
You got to love it, those in power create the problem, then tell us how they are going to fix it, kinda like a 3 Stooges episode on pluming.

I have no problem believing that drugs flow north, and money and guns flow south.

^^^^^YEP^^^^^^^^^^^^
Funny how drugs have been flowing north for 30+ yrs., causing crime and destruction and death to boot, but a couple years of a few guns supposedly making their way south is enough for all these blithering idiots to start whining about tougher gun laws.
Smoke and Mirrors folks, Smoke and Mirrors.
They are running out of ideas(ammo), and this is the best they got.
Its time to storm the castle, and throw{vote} these conniving thieves out, and at the very least, put a different bunch of conniving thieves in. At least maybe the pillaging and plundering will bring the booty our way
