I just got back from seeing the movie "Battleship".
It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It really shows honor & respect to our troops. You need to go see this movie!!!

The wife and I have a date set Monday to see this movie. The preview looked good enough to drag me out to the theater, and that's saying something.![]()

No can do. I'm waiting on the next in the Twilight series.
Just kidding!
Avengers was good, however!

OMHO, I'd rather watch "Act of Valor". "Battleship" has so many inaccuracies especially the uniforms of sailors when underway at sea.
Is it like Transformers?
By the way, my son made me take him to see The Dictator. It was about the worst movie I have ever seen.
The Navy's uniforms have changed much since I retired 12 years ago. But looking at the newer uniforms online, the movie trailer I saw seems pretty much correct. The dress whites you may have seen are many times worn entering and leaving port, got to be showy. The camo blue working uniform may be worn at sea (and I would not be surprised to find that it is probably required on the bridge) though many doing dirtier jobs probably wear the plain blue coveralls.
My 12yo son did like Avengers better. I haven't seen it yet.
There were some "Hollywood" adaptations. (This is a scifi flick ya know.) Overall, this film really paid honor to our troops, veterans & wounded warriors. The "battleship" was the star. But, the US military was portrayed as heroic, competent, intelligent and very positive.
The only resemblance to transformers were the alien crafts & the alien uniforms. I thought the alien spacecrafts were over the top & really not plausible at all. However, the alien uniforms were actually battle suits w/weaponry. The transformer type weaponry was a little far fetched. But, the battle suit concept is believable.
The Dictator is one movie that I have no interest in seeing whatsoever.

LOL, I gotta think that any 'real' aliens would squash us like a troublesome gnat. But these kind of movies are fun to watch.

I will pass, no disrespect to the Navy though.

You gotta love the big guns! There is just something so cool about being able to fire a 2000lb projectile twenty miles.
The Navy will find you and punish you for your insolence!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that in a real situation the microorganisms and viruses would be more deadly to them than our weapons.
