    Caught a hog...

    ...of a fish today.

He was up shallow and was silhouetted against a light bottom. I saw him from about 25 ft away or so and thought he was a monster bass. I made the perfect cast and dropped a rubber worm in front of his nose. A few twitches later he took it. Well, he was a monster....catfish.

I'm guessing he was about 15 pounds or so. I had to lift him with two hands.

Great catch! In one of your farm ponds? Very good!

"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."

No, a friends pond. I don't have one yet, but will in the next few years.

I used to work night shift in the ER. My wife used to go to the pond and fish in the evenings when I was at work. I came home from work one morning and when I went to the restroom I found a huge catfish swimming in the bathtub. It was so big it couldn't turn around in the tub.

I went and woke the wife up and said "Honey... How'd a catfish get in the bathtub?" She said, if she didn't put it in the bathtub, no one would ever believe she caught a fish that big! Took her about a half hour to drag it up from the pond. I'm surprised it was still alive.

Guess who had to clean it?

Your too self-conscious........ and that one Heckuva cat !

I caught a couple of cats on spinnerbaits and worms before. Too bad that wasn't a bass....but, I'd eat that'un with ya no problem!

Good deal! We used to go catfishing all of the time. Those are great memories. Nothing like catching a big cat. @ 15 lbs. I bet he was a handful.

Keep us posted on your progress when you start your pond, I'd like to hear about it. Don't forget to take pics!
