What if? The First 12 Hours after the US Dollar Collapse - Video 4 Thought
You can have all the gold, silver and food in the world, but without ammo, you won't keep it.
If you are not thinking about the basics........
Fictional but realistic.

The world isn't coming to an end. The world isn't coming to an end. The world isn't coming to an end.
Write that 500 times then go get some therapy.

Americans are going to empty the grocery stores within two hours of a wall street decline? First, I don't think people are that attuned to the financial markets. Second, I don't think people associate a drop in the Dow with running out of water. Third, we've had percentage drops as big as the drop mentioned in the film - and the grocery stores operated normally.

I am not sure why there would be such a run at the grocery stores, unless there was a hurricane coming.

very few people are directly involved with the stock market. perhaps what will cause the masses to rebel will be when the cost of daily goods climb and climb while their income does not
the vanier of civilization is thin, and even than mostly held together falsely by govt subsidies--how thin it is will be evident by how quickly those who "need" don't get what they want.
in a society run on 'now' , hungry people do not want to know what you are doing that will help them next week.
thats when the smoke from the already decayed cities will be seen.
12 hours.....more like 3 to 5 days before things get smoky
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.
this not only makes life interesting, it makes it dangerous too.
For Sale 1985 Toyota Supra. one owner, 82K, will pass inspection, only needs some body/rust patching

For all the doom and gloomers: What you don't understand is that notwithstanding all of our nation's problems, all of the discord,
we mostly live in pretty good times. We lived in darn good times 15 years ago. That means if you are somewhere
between 25 and 45 you haven't seen BAD. You also likely don't know a great deal of our nation's history unless you
made a point of learning it.
You sit in front of the tv and listen to the nut jobs pontificate on stuff they know nothing about, or you listen to it on radio,
and sometimes you hear it in your places of worship--- but what you are really hearing is entertainment; fear sells.
And what you think is really bad, only appears really bad because you lack any and all perspective. The fear is mostly just
from childish whiners-- and if that fits some participants here, well so be it. Grow up.
You pick the decade; any decade from 1779 to today, or 1776 to today, and with the possible exception of a few years in the 90s
I'll show you how much better off we are today than ever before.
Of course you won't listen because you want to believe that the world is coming to an end, that things have never been worse.
Balderdash to that part. Just one example, do you know that your parents paid 13% interest for their mortgage? How'd you
like that? Do you know that gas jumped from below 30cents a gallon to over 90 cents and disappeared from the market
so we had national rationing? That's what your parents went through. And that doesn't even touch the turmoil of the 60s
and constant real threat of surprise nuclear.
I'm old and I'm sick, and I'll probably be dead in 2-3 years or so. The future is meaningless to me. But one thing I can
assure you, if you keep talking and thinking the way some of you do you will create a disgusting self-fulfilling prophesy.
There are too many people here with young kids and families who need to see the other side of the picture. And there is another
side of the picture which is far brighter than what you guys are babbling about.

I don't think you'll see anything major happen until there is an actual attack on Iran. Then you will see the dollar dump shortly after that.

Hopy - there is a lot of wisdom in your words. I am old enough to remember worse times, and educated enough to have read about far worse.
Even so, I keep my eyes on the horizon and try to be as ready as I can. No fretting, no ranting - just a quiet state of readiness.

Historically, a population tolerates quite a bit of governmental abuse, loss of liberty, loss of wealth, and loss of life. A common thread in almost every revolt is food price inflation or scarcity. People take that personally. During the last great depression, farm families didn't suffer as much as city folks. In the US, the breadbasket of the world, a breakdown in the food chain will be repaired within a few months. The government is gearing up for civil unrest, but we'll be on our own for awhile. I don't see any harm in stocking up on items that you will use up in any case.

Read Grapes of Wrath; about the fate of Oklahoma farm families in 1937.
