My 'CINC-House' = 'Commander in Chief - House' (when she is in the US) calls my AMEX the 'AFT' card.

As she says............ I primarly "use it for AFT" items.... (oh, about 90% these days)......

But it's My Card, waaaaaaa, waaaaaaaaaa! (me wa, wa..ing)...

Sorry about that QK. Should have left the subject matter out. Sometimes my fingers get ahead of my brain...

My POINT is....that even when on different sides of any fence, as long as people think with logic and reason, they can come to a mutual agreement on different topics. It all comes with compromise. The lady's (in my prior deleted post) husband said there was NO WAY he would have ever been able to convince her to do what I convinced her to do. It's surprising the number of women that I talk to (women that I would have NEVER suspected) who have or want a CHL. In fact, I know of at least 5 who are getting them because they found out that I did. In other words, I agree with oakchas that if more women stand up and speak out for 2A rights, more women will come on board.

There were no "domestic disputes," there were no "battered women."
Nonsense, it was one of the major factors in the push for prohibition, that and abused children.

That's why "domestic disputes" and "battered women" was in quotes. The early 1900's were "all about the women." They won suffrage and they fought for and got prohibition. Until that era, most women (and children) were considered chattel. And a man could do whatever he wanted to to his (ahem) property. Most LEOs, the courts and society as a whole would look away.
    It could be worse.

In a way, it's unfortunate that those of us in the CC community advocate so strongly that whether we carry or not is "nunya bidness." The OC crowd (on the whole, and I support OC, so stow the flame throwers) gets looked upon by the masses as "nuts with guns." Some have opportunities to talk rationally with folks who ask about it... but I would imagine that's a real rarity.

We all know that in many of the scenarios posted when a woman is portrayed as the protagonist victim against a male villain, there is an almost automatic "disparity of force" argument for drawing the weapon. For women, the gun is "the great equalizer."

We (CC community) use the favorable decline in rape/sexual assault statistics in the early days of Florida's "shall issue" law as illustrated by our (CC community) "experts" (Lott and Kleck come to mind). And it's true, guns in the hands of women have probably stopped a lot more male on female assaults than are ever reported.

What we need (and us guys need it as bad as the women do) is a "Gun totin' Gloria Steinem." Suzanna (or Susan) Gratia-Hupp was a catalyst for Texas' concealed carry laws. We need someone like her on a national level. Someone like a real life Sandra Bullock when she said (playing Leigh Anne Tuohy in the movie The Blind Side): "... I'm a member of the NRA, and I'm always packing."

The handgun, when in trained hands, IS the great equalizer for women. It DOES guarantee them the ability to be "secure in their persons, houses..." AND against more than just unreasonable search and seizure...

Many Universities in this country give out Rape pamphlets to the new female students, some of them even provide one of these:

Other universities allow female students (of legal age and licensed) to carry one of these:

If you knew your daughter was at risk of being sexually assaulted on campus in the next four years, which would you rather give her?
    It could be worse.

    9. We have learned from bitter experience that discussions of certain subjects (politics, religion, abortion, sexual orientation, etc) often degenerate quickly. For this reason, we DO NOT allow the discussion of these topics.
