"A day later, NPWS officials issued a permit to hire a shooter and kill the kangaroo -- but by that time it had moved on and attacked someone else."

'Makes me glad we live in a country where we can own guns and backhoes.

NPWS said the powerful eastern grays, which can weigh up to 145 pounds and stand almost six feet, were considered dangerous and its policy was to educate people on avoiding conflict.
That's what they do about criminals, too... The authorities educate you on how to avoid conflict.... Just give them what they want....

    In me finest Aussie accent:

That "Roo" was just a good bloke, out for a bit o fun, Mate. Blimey, leave the poor bugger alone, won't you?

The way I hears it, he was just starting to turn his life around, met a nice Sheila and was about to settle down and have a Joey or two, but no, this had to happen.

Now he's gone and is probably as happy as a Koala up a gum tree!

Instead of having to hire a kangaroo hit man or "educate' the public on how to avoid a large animal who "stalks" people...just educate them on gun ownership, use and responsibility. Then they can protect themselves not only from violent kangaroos, but also violent people.

No, no, NO....... that just won't do! Guns are EVIL and the Aussie public has no clue. Guns have NO place in civilizied socity much less the wild outback and the bush. [scarsam off]

Roos are MEAN ! I saw the aftermath of what two greys could do to six Marines while I was downunder. Ya leave 'um ALONE!

You mean there is a actual reason for the Aussie song line, "Tie me kangaroo down, boy. Tie me kangaroo down"?
