The need to make a video?
I just finished watching a video posted to the forum and as I watched I felt sad. This guy had no business making instructional videos. Was the advice bad? No, not really, but the video quality and editing was a farce. IMO the video made a guy who is probably fairly competent look like a dope.
Sadly, 90% of the videos I see are flat out garbage.
There are some folks on YouTube that do great work (Military Arms and Hickock45 come to mind) but most of these people come away looking like fools.
So can anyone tell my WHY do people feel the need to post their “expertise” on YouTube?

AgreeedTimmy, most are just "fluff".A video camera in your hands does not make you an expert. My gripe is with the people who post a semi related link, just to boost the post count, its seems lazy at best.If its worth mentioning,do it!

When the barriers to entry are so low, any idiot can pretty much put whatever they want on the internet for the world to see. The bad part is that these idiots honestly believe they know something about anything.

My thought on this, Timmy, would be ego.
I deal with it on a daily basis, and it doesn't have to be firearm related.
People puff themselves up for various reasons because they have a lack of self-esteem and in order to compensate, they do stupid stuff to draw attention to themselves.

Maybe he was saying the reason some instructional videos are sub-par is that they are filmed and edited by a dog.
I do want to say that Paul Gomez's and ColionNoir's videos are great IMO.

A lot of the posts on here are garbage with bad grammar and are poorly written, just because someone isn't a professional writer shouldn't stop them from posting their thoughts.
YouTube is merely a visual means to share your thought of the moment, like anything - some are better than others at it.
Disclaimer:
My opinion shouldn't be taken seriously due to the fact that I've been shooting guns for over 30 years and have only recently been active on gun forums, where all the real world knowledge apparently is.

That was a very polite way to say what I was going to, but not in such a nice way.

"dog" is a way to say "because he can" without all the words.
It goes like this. "Why does a dog lick himself? ". The answer is..."because he can".
Rather than type it all out, one simply says "dog" and it is understood.
