Georgia College Girl Arrested for Alleged Pipe Bomb 'Hobby'

    By RANDY KREIDER
    June 1, 2012 ABC News

Her father says she's just a daddy's girl with some unladylike hobbies. The FBI and the ATF disagree.

    -----(snip)------

Celia Alchemy Savage, 23, was arrested by federal and local officials after a Wednesday search of her Cornelia, Georgia home allegedly turned up two pipe bombs, a pistol, suspected marijuana and methamphetamine and alleged drug paraphernalia. She is being held on federal weapons, explosives and drug charges, and has been denied bond.

According to the criminal complaint, when an ATF agent asked Savage what there was to do in Cornelia, Georgia, she said, "Blow things up." The agent said that Savage also stated that she "likes to blow up toilets in the woods."

    -----(snip)------

A video of Savage blowing up a toilet in the woods can still be seen on YouTube. Savage's father, Tommy Savage, confirmed to investigative reporter Mark Winne of ABC Atlanta affiliate WSB-TV that his daughter was the person seen in the video.

Savage's Facebook profile, which is also still on the web, lists "explosives" as an interest, her political orientation as "anarchist" and her status as "Push to test. Release to detonate."

"I despise all law enforcement and any governing authority," she says in her "about Celia" section. "I am not one for selective targeting but mass destruction." Various photos show Savage with high-powered weapons, holding a snake, riding a motorcycle, in a kickboxing stance and posing with her father and a dead animal.

My Comments: File this one under "You just can't make this $h^t up category." There is a lot more content in the article: Georgia College Girl Arrested for Alleged Pipe Bomb 'Hobby' - ABC News

Her middle name is Alchemy? That's wicked. And also quite appropriate given the charges...

OK, she was asking for the feds to show up, but a couple things:
    1) "Posing with her father and a dead animal?" Was this a hunting pic? If so, how sad that this is considered strange these days.
    2) It may be possible that some things some folks roughly my age today did at her age that involved zero property damage (at least others' property) but lots of smoke, fire, explosions, and noise would end up with fed charges these days... that's sad also... So many rules making it hard to be a kid these days
    3) It may also be possible that someone who had a lot of fun as a kid might find ways for his kids to have fun in similar ways... but if that ever did happen, he'd be wise not to post details on the net!

Government is getting way to involved in peoples personal lives. As long as she is not making a nuke and having plans of harming people or commiting crimes let her blow up what ever she wants on her property.

It is a hunting photo with her dad...Whoodee doo! This is so stupis. If folks and the government mind their own business there would be less problems.

Her FB page is still up

Holding a snake, riding a motorcycle, posing in a kick boxing stance and standing by a dead animal with her father? How is that relevant to anything? No photos of her at her high school prom? Sensationalizes the story I reckon.

I agree. I'd say a solid 75% of the teenage population at least, boys and girls, have wanted to blow something up at some point. Personally I find it fascinating how such simple concoctions can destroy what took so long to build. I like blowing stuff up, I like shooting things, I like bonfires. Controlled of course. I have no desire to blow up a government building or an airplane. I simply find big booms and fire fun. I can build a fire and spend hours doing nothing but stoking it and watching it morph as it consumes its fuel. The dancing of the flames is enthralling. Don't ask me why, maybe I'm not normal. But it doesn't mean I want to hurt people.

Now the anarchy bit isn't going to help her at all if it's true.

Truth be told, she seems like my kind of girl. Or at least she would have been when I was young and crazy.
It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

Most folks don't even know what an anarchist is
Anarchism is generally defined as the political philosophy which holds the state to be undesirable, unnecessary, and harmful,[1][2] or alternatively as opposing authority and hierarchical organization in the conduct of human relations.[3][4][5][6][7][8] Proponents of anarchism, known as "anarchists", advocate stateless societies based on non-hierarchical[3][9][10] voluntary associations.[11][12]
I would take her on a tandem jump! Or my wife would. They would get along great, both love guns and my wife is a skydiving instructor

I don't think you're very normal. But maybe lots of fun. Fire is always good.

I do think this is a bit over the top, though. The drugs, yeah- you can get her on those. But, how many people make 'homemade' explosives just to play with them at home where nobody else will be affected? Some black/gunpowder and a plastic jar with a lid, some kind of fuse, and it's party time!

While she has done a lot of this to herself with things she's said/posted, the pictures 'with high-powered weapons, holding a snake, riding a motorcycle, in a kickboxing stance and posing with her father and a dead animal' (oh no!) have nothing at all to do with anything. How much trouble will I get in if I post pictures of me on a motorcycle, with a gun on my hip? Does that mean I will get arrested too?

..stupid government... screwing everything up for everyone...
"Rock and load, lock and roll... what's it matter? FIRE!!"

"Gun control means hitting your target every time."

Please take everything I say with at least one grain of salt- I am a very sarcastic person with a very dry sense of humor.

True, but my point remains. When you tell the suits that you hate them, they stop being willing to give you chances. And, given the public's lack of knowledge about the subject, the government and media can spin "anarchy" any way they want and the girl gets crucified.

Where were chicks like this when I was a college student and single..... ?!?

If FB was around when I was in HS/college, I'd probley STILL be doing time. I mean, Posing with dead animals, at my familys deer camp..... blowing stuff up, riding dirt bikes, no drugs though...... I did manage to steer myself clear of that mess..... handeling snakes (that was actually a side-job I did for a pet store back in HS).

I don't know what she was doing that caught the feds attention, but FB and youtube does 'put you out there'. But still.........?

Anybody with half a brain stem should know that various, um, authorities, including the feds are crawling all over things like FB, forums, IRC, as well as undoubtedly monitoring phone calls, text messages, and a bunch of other things looking for stuff like this. If you are going to be into things like this, or have views that might be construed as supporting "anarchy" (* see note), for Sithis' sake DON"T POST IT ON THE FREAKING INTERNET!

*note: I have come across a couple of references and threads regarding the term "anarchists" and while it isn't discussed openly, there really seems to something about this (term / concept) that is drawing attention of the govt.

The big problem, as I see it, was the illegal drugs. I am sure the big problem for the government was the explosives and anti government parts (see now I have put myself in the government's attention. "Hello government man/woman" ) In this day and age one needs to be careful about what they put and post on the internet. Something that is completely innocent or just mouthing off for effect can get one in tons of trouble with this government.

My older brother, when we were kids, would build and set off rockets. Totally innocent then...would be looked at completely different now.

I hope things work out for this young woman. But something for us all to remember is that what we say and what we post has "legs" and could walk you into a court room as a defendant.

Should it be this way? I don't think so. Is it going to change? Not for the better I am afraid.
