Is it just me or is everything getting weirder?
We got face eating zombies
Girl scout robbing girls
In the news I see more robberies and shootings nightly
Some things that used to be social mores are being made "normal"
Maybe the apocalypse will come and it gets started by humans.
Sometimes I am so disgusted by things that I am glad I am as old as I am and won't have to deal with it that much longer.
My saving grace is that I have accepted my savior who died on a cross for my sins.
Sorry, just had to vent a little.

Is it just me or is everything getting weirder?
Or is it just that things and people were always weird, bizarre, evil, strange, kinky, etc...but, now we all have immediate access to world wide instant information about everything?

Just pour yourself a scotch and laugh at the idiots. Otherwise you'll go crazy too.

Oh my partner. Yes, things are getting worse but that's always been the case. And yes, we hear more and faster news than we can process. It's just another Saturday night and you're in the right place.

well if it is you, would you mind stopping....
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.
this not only makes life interesting, it makes it dangerous too.

This really is a great thread by Yoda since I have been pondering on this for a while now. I am a 3-Dimensional thinker as are many forum members here.
I believe that we are (in reality) living in very good times for the immediate present...though things could easily turn far uglier in a big hurry and on a worldwide scale.
For RIGHT NOW....even though we have have sporadic incidents of true bizarreness and horrific random violence in the U.S. - when that is compared to...say...the Plague that wiped out 3/4 of the population or Europe or the Great Ice Age that dwindled the entire human population down to mere thousands...or the Inquisition or the Polio outbreak or NAZI Germany...The Potato Famine in Ireland - and on and on.
We are actually doing pretty well. We are healthier longer & living longer and better lives.
The "poor" in the U.S. are actually wealthy compared to life in the ammonia hole 3rd world countries. The biggest problem that OUR domestic poor face is actually health related complications due to obesity.
But, even worldwide things are about the same as always if not always better.
Thankfully the United States is still a major player worldwide BECAUSE we actually do more to help world populations than any other country in human history.
We supply sick and starving world populations with more free food and medicine and shelter and "aid", fresh water technology - the list is very LONG.
We are a generous nation. Those that want to see America taken down do not realize that if the U.S. dies then so does much of the remainder of the planet.
Yes, we do a lot of consuming here in the U.S. but, that consumption feeds much of the world also because it creates jobs for mankind. True that some in those countries only make $2.00 a day but, they would otherwise be eating bark off off trees because the alternative for them is nothing leading to starvation.
We certainly do have a HOST of problems here in these United States but, compared to how folks had to work just to survive in the past...we are living in rare, fortunate times.
We are not washing our clothes by beating them on a rock down at the river. We are not plowing our own fields with oxen just to eat rice. We do not have the infant mortality of the past where 2 out of every 3 children died before the age of 5.
40 years old is no longer OLD AGE when if you lived to 50 you were one of the WISE MEN.
Many of us would rather die than live the lives of our early pioneers and deal with what were just their daily hardships that they took in stride.
We do not have to make and cobble repair our own shoes or send our children out to cut firewood rather than having them go to school.
Yes, in many ways we are a wimpier, softer, population (in general) but, you certainly cannot say that about our troops that are just incredible Americans in every way.
I see a lot of kids these days that are pretty screwed up and in gangs etc...but, on the flip side I see tons of great ones also that are going down the right road. So there is always hope.
How is it all going to eventually pan out with our society? It could go either way. There are so many possible variables that it's impossible to predict.
Hopefully others will chime in on this threads and add more thoughts and opinions.
I'd be curious to hear multitudes of other thoughts on the subject that either agree or disagree.

Having been to more than twenty five countries and stationed a year each in two different countries as an aircrew member in the USAF there is NO other country I would prefer live in than the US. And I do not think things have gotten weirder, it’s just with today’s information technology we hear about it faster.

Excellent post^. I'm of the opinion that it is our ability to instantly have access to all sorts of news and media that makes it seem like there is more problems then what there used to be.
However, I feel that the U.S is in for a rough ride here shortly.
If you're going to carry one weapon, might as well carry two, because as the saying goes, "Two is one, and one is none."

Back 100 years ago when Farmer Zeke went berserk one evening and hacked up his Wife and kids with a meat cleaver and then buried them behind the barn, put a big manure pile over that spot, and then told everybody in church that his family left to go stay (and care for) sick Aunt Margie 3 states away...nobody ever gave it a passing thought.

Did the community get interested when the 1/2 his age bombshell Milk Maid moved in 3 days later?
