Nothing elite. Sounds like in-line with military standards. Here they are for 20-something females (# of pushups to max the score for that area):

    Army: 46 in 2 minutes
Air Force: 47 in 1 minute
    Marines: Do flexed-arm hang instead
    Navy: 48 in 2
USCG: Keep nostrils above water for 3 minutes in a 4-foot deep pool.

And yes, plus some extras for Mom and Dad, but not nearly as many as I used to be able to do.

Yes I can. I do 2 sets of 50 push ups in 1.5 minutes (each set) as warm up for my normal workout routine. My wife is a personal trainer and she keeps me fit and somewhat trim for a 47 yr old guy.

“Get down, ma’am!” The agent pushes me facedown against the leather upholstery.

...maybe I'd be willing to double my pushup count for that...

I think I can, does it count if my belly touches the ground?

I consider it a success if I can push myself into a sitting position in bed every morning

Guys can be weird about it. At a Christmas party with friends from home, a guy said, “Are you packing heat?” He was patting me down: “I’m seeing if you’re carrying.”

....well that was the excuse that he used anyway....
