'CCW' Bugs Me!
Not carrying, just the acronym.
I feel it's overused... like people try and slip it in whenever they get the chance.
"I carry my weapon CCW."
"I carry CCW."
"How do you CCW?"
My favorite...
"Do you carry your CCW Concealed or Open?"
Seems to me people call whatever gun they have 'CCW', whether it is or isn't - doesn't even have to be on them.
Thanks for letting me rant.
Disclaimer:
My opinion shouldn't be taken seriously due to the fact that I've been shooting guns for over 30 years and have only recently been active on gun forums, where all the real world knowledge apparently is.

Similarly, my wife hates "chai tea." Chai means tea. So effectively people are saying "I'll take a tea tea please."
In Oklahoma ours is a CWL or concealed weapon license. But it only applies to handguns, so why not just say CHL? Of course that's going to have to change as well when open carry goes open season in November.

The same thing occurred to me, but I've always been a stickler for proper grammar so I don't say anything knowing most people barely passed HS English. They also say CCW when they mean CCP, as in, "I've had my CCW for three years." And they mean the permit (CCP), not the weapon (CCW).

PCW here. Permit to carry weapons. Should be dangerous weapons, as in Iowa, it allows carry of knives and saps, etc. that you couldn't otherwise carry.
But I get your point. I guess its just a form of shorthand for us. Can be annoying though.

Like ATM Machine.
I find nothing wrong with using the acronym talking about my CCW concealed weapon even though I'm still waiting for my CCP permit.

Here is Texas it is a CHL "Concealed Hangun License". Funny, I don't discuss carrying concealed with anyone I know. Only only "discuss" issues here on this forum.

Here in SC it's CWP- Concealed Weapons Permit. Although I think it only applies to guns..
..stupid South Carolina..
So, a native to SC gets a SCCWP from SLED so they can CC, but only LEOs can OC.
It bothers me too, but I just try to read it as the intended phrase.
Here's to no NDs.
"Rock and load, lock and roll... what's it matter? FIRE!!"
"Gun control means hitting your target every time."
Please take everything I say with

very dry sense of humor.

ATM Machine is one of my pet peeves, too. I also despise VIN Number and UPC Code.

It also sucks when the liberals drag you down to their use of words.
License to Conceal and Carry...bad
Free to carry discretely...better
Assault weapon...bad
Modern Sporting Rifle...better
Shoot First Law...bad
Personal Protection Guarantee...better
Loaded with LIVE ammo...bad

Right, but what's your PIN Number? I promise I won't tell anyone.
Or just give me your "Social". That's another one I hate.

I usually get in trouble when I ask a waitress for a tea tea.
I'm in favor of gun control -- I think every citizen should have control of a gun.
