    Privacy slats?

We have a chain link fence going all the way around our back yard, with neighbors houses being so close there isn't a whole lot of privacy when I'm in the back yard, there's always either kids playing outside next door, or their dogs barking at me...

I just started to look up prices on privacy slats (the plastic pieces that go in between chain link fences) and most of the ones I find are $75-100 for enough to cover 10 ft of 4 ft high fence... That seems like a ridiculous price for a small amount of plastic... I have at least 40 ft of fence to cover...

Does anybody know a cheaper alternative to this that will still look good.. or as good as a chain link fence can look...or a cheap place to buy them?

Would ivy or some other vine or climbing plant work?

You could use big rolls of nylon webbing and then DIY the installation.

If privet will grow in your area, it would not take long to give you all the privacy you might want. I use to cut mine back to stumps evey two years and they would grow 6-8 feet in no time.

That sound reasonable, here in Texas the fences are wood and get replaced every 10-25 years at a cost of $2500-$3000 for an average yard

I'm going to get some in green for my front fences this summer.

Wrap your fence in aluminum foil, privacy and your whole yard will be safe from scanners.

Watch for sales on privacy fence panels. We picked up a bunch of wooden ones, and I think we did our entire yard for under a grand, including the posts too.
