It appears an example of the untrained & poorly-instructed now believing they are somehow magically transformed into the qualified & knowledgable. The proper sight picture should ALWAYS be explained with a diagram on paper (chalk/dry erase board, etc.). He's wayyyy to close to the muzzle of that rifle. But there's no mag in there, although I DO WISH the bolt was locked-back. The up-side is, it looks like a date & he's introducing a obvious rookie to shooting. They're perfect for each other.

Remember the first day of rifle familiarization in Boot Camp when the range NCO demo'ed the recoil by shooting with the stock against his chin, his groin and finally, one-handed? Same theory, I guess.

I think that's an air rifle - no harm until she steps up.

Edit: Nevermind, at first glance thought the sling under the stock could've been a hinge.

It's pretty clearly a Ruger Mini-14, not an air rifle.

At least it isn't some sort of .30 magnum

It could also be a Mini 30, in that case it will definitely hurt if she shoots it in that position. Considering there is spotting scope and hearing protection on the bench behind them, hopefully it is unloaded and he's explaining sight picture to her.
