She's standing up for what she believes in, against a system that has obviously failed her. Good for her.

More power to her going forward.

She's being charged with contempt of court. I don't blame her, if it were me I'd hold the judge and court in contempt too.

If I was her father,I would have grounded her..............

Then I would have paid to have a billboard in town painted with their{the boys} names on it, stating that they were SEX OFFENDERS.

Plea deal made without her knowledge or consent. Under a gag order to not divulge the identities of the criminals. And she's attacked by the judge for doing what's right: ensuring a PUBLIC trial and NO SHIELD for criminals. Good for her.

Piss on the judge and others in the system who would dare jump on her head for demanding public justice for the public destruction she's had to endure.

When one hears of shenanigans like this being pulled on victims, it's not a surprise why the "justice" system is better known as a legal system. While I suppose I can understand the desire by some to keep the identities of minors out of the news, IMO there is no call for it when the perpetrators commit an adult crime of violence.

Contempt motion withdrawn by defendants' attorneys: Courier-Journal, 6:32pm July 23 2012. Who knows whether the judge will still act like knickers are twisted, but it's a good sign so far.

Seems rather pointless to have hidden the names of perps in the first place, bub.

I read this article last night and was just fuming. Absolutely infuriating. The victim didn't know about the plea deal and is obviously shocked at how easy they're getting off, and the court expect her to just accept that and move on? Sexual assault is, in my mind, an equal or greater crime than murder. Plea deals are bullcrap. Give them the gallows.

Sometimes the internet is a wonderful thing.

Still doesn't excuse the plea deal.

I am really getting tired of how lousy are justice system has become in this country.

I think that if demented, perverted, low-life juveniles are "man" enough to rape someone then the justice system should deal with them as adults and not protect their innocence. Savannah Dietrich was woman enough to tell the world her horrific ordeal. I would be proud to have her as a daughter.

    From another article:
Juvenile court is closed in Kentucky to protect the confidentiality of defendants, but Dietrich has consented to the media’s presence at her contempt hearing, which is allowed under state law.

A hearing is scheduled for July 30 in juvenile court to decide if the media will be allowed into the contempt hearing. The Courier-Journal and Dietrich’s attorneys have filed motions to open the proceedings, arguing she has a First Amendment right to speak about what happened in her case and a right to a public hearing on the contempt charge.

The boys’ attorneys, however, have asked the court to continue the order barring Dietrich from speaking to the media about the assault case or allowing the newspaper or anyone else to witness the contempt hearing.

Following the plea, judge Dee McDonald admonished everyone involved not to speak to anyone about what had happened in the court or about the crime in general, according to Dietrich.

“I was crying as she (the judge) was reading that,” Dietrich said. “They got off very easy ... and they tell me to be quiet, just silencing me at the end.”

I do not look at this so much as victims rights as I do the Governments obligation to protect society as a whole. How does telling citizens that they can not warn others about dangerous criminals serve that goal of protecting society? Telling the media that they cannot report on dangers around them.

These 'teens' are sexual predators..... She did good, and the 'in-your-face' defiance of a stupid court order worked in her favor. These 'kids' took advantage of a durnk girl at a party, video taped it, and then passed it around. That's child pornography isn't it? These two are STILL getting off 'easy'.

I also hope she learned a lesson as well...... As a father of daughters I have had this very discussion with my teen girls. Your underage, that means NO drinking yourself into a stuper thus allowing yourself to be taken advantave of in ANY way. She mad a mistake and it's turned into this.

Having said that, I glad these punks who'd do this kind of act will forever have their names 'out there'.

Good for her. Those jerks need some social justice. One pro lem IMO is that there isn't shame anymore. Public pressure is a big deal, but seems rare. Hopefully the community "steps up"
