    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Guns:

    (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000 (Yes, that’s 80 million).

    (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, Is 1,500.

    (C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188.

    Statistics courtesy of FBI

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

The "Grey" area is where the gun grabbers will say

    (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, Is 1,500.

is much lower because what we refer to as accidental, they will refer to as Everyone killed/murdered/shot/suicide collectively as a whole, thereby raising the # and additionally, the "RED"FLAG" alarm on how guns are the devils work.

For the defense of the physician, they will say,

    (B) “Accidental deaths” caused by Physicians per year: 120,000

is much higher because they will cite that how many of those people that died allegedly at the hands of a physician were in poor health to begin with, or waited too long to see the doctor for treatment, and that when it comes to medicine, it is called a "practice" for a reason.

That is the part that should alarm anyone seeking medical attention for anything outside of broken bones, or something that is very apparent, and forseeable, that a doctor can successfully treat.

"Accidental" physician deaths are categorized by the CDC as "medical misadventure."

A few years back I was in my Congresscritter's office in CT having a discussion about 2nd Amendment issues, she raised the subject of injury/mortaility statistics. I was well prepared and showed her the CDC numbers that bore out how physicians were more likely to cause death than gun accidents. Her husband was a doctor and the conversation went quickly downhill after that.

    Good one Gene!

My Dad and I had a good chuckle over morning coffee.

I usually present the 2010 firearm murder (<9400) vs vehicular deaths (<34,000) official stats and that will almost alway shut the antis down. If that doesn't work I finish them off with the 11% LEO vs 2% ALAC wrong guy shot thing at em and ask who they would rather be near in a shoot out. Its crickets after that.

I need a little help with my English. What is an "ALAC wrong guy shot thing?" What is an ALAC?

    Thanks.

Good news! Doctors may not be as dangerous as first thought: 0.171 / 0.000188 = 909.57

It appears that they are only 909 times more dangerous than gun owners.

    Whew! What a relief.

Thanks for the math correction. Received it in an e-mail this morning and passed it along.
