    Speaking of the "rock-pile" of Afghanistan...there are some great and valuable gemstones to be found in them-there hills.
    BEAUTIFUL Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise, Aquamarine etc.

    The Lapis is especially beautiful.

    QK you are correct and they are cheap to. My last trip yielded some great stones from the bazzar including several rubies and a great emerald.

    Early "MAN" has been around for such an incredibly long time in that area - you have to wonder what is hidden in those mountains.
    Well, we KNOW what is hidden in those mountains these days but, I'm talking about ANCIENT AKA pre-history.

    I actually would love to explore and dig around in those mountain areas as in archeology but, I really don't want to do that right at this present time.

    That brings to mind the Dead Sea Scrolls; it would be interesting what an archeological dig may unearth once that area cools down.
