I spoke with my son last night and his gf had a friend shot in the head, my reply was Good and here's why:
The girlfriends friend and his brother were drug dealers, the older brother went to pistol whip a customer and had an accidental discharge which struck his younger brother in the head leaving him paralyized.
My reply was "Good, couldn't happen to a nicer drug dealer". Two off the street, one in jail for drug and firearms violations and the other permanately out of (the drug) business.
My son agrees with my assesment of the situation saying they got what they had coming but his gf thinks we're callous.
Now if only we could get more dealers to shoot each other..........

If I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand
Your son might want to consider finding a new girlfriend too.
I am not sympathetic when criminals kill one another but as 4my son put it this will be used as an anti gun statistic somewhere. That's ok, I am willing to risk it to get two creeps like this off the streets.

''Good"? - Well - certainly appropriate

An attack of the dumbs gets two drug dealers off the street and the gf has problems with that. There is another problem that has an easy answer to it.
When you accept mediocrity you sow the seeds for future failure.
One should never confuse good fortune with good training.
Illegitimus Non Carborundum. In God we trust.
My son already knows my opinion of the GF but that's not my decision to make.
One unfortunate thing here is that if you're in you 20's nowadays and anywher near any city then you're going to know someone who is a dealer.
Another thing to unfortunately consider though is the location.
This occurred in Dodge City, er I mean Reading where a LEO was recently shot and killed and where a year or so ago 50 cars of gangbangers circled city hall waiting for someone they didn't like to come out under police protection. The PD called in extra officers and had to bring the person out in a vest even with that.
About 2-3 years ago, Reading was actually a segment on 60 Minutes tv program as being the heroin capital of the country.
I got my son out of there a few years back but his mother and sister still live there with one of my granddaughters and they do so by choice. My daughter lives with her mother but they would both rather buy luxury cars and fancy clothing and such rather than move. Oh, and the house right next door to them is a crack house.
I'm teaching my son to shoot and in August bought him his first pistol and getting him to apply for his permit, at least he'll have some protection when he visits.
I visit on occasion to see my granddaughter but I'm always armed and when visiting I always have a backup gun and a backup shooter.
I wish I could at least get my granddaughter out but I can't legally do that.
Well, at least there's 2 less dealers on the street.
Maybe one day, they'll see the light before something happens....
Sad, but true...One unfortunate thing here is that if you're in you 20's nowadays and anywher near any city then you're going to know someone who is a dealer.
I don't care that it is easy to know a dealer, it is a choice to associate with them. Your son may not be associating directly with one but he chooses to share his life with someone who does.
Strangley I find it easy, even in NY, to go through an entire year without associating with a drug dealer besides the guy who sells me perscription medicine at Eckards and I am only in my 30s.
