    Safety Nannyism Run Amok

In a memo to staff, it was warned that the use of metal fasteners was ‘prohibited’ and the offending clips must be ‘carefully disposed of immediately’.
I am speechless on this one..... I hope mayor Bloomberg don't see this!

Just to clarify for those who will jump to conclusions without reading the article:

The clips have been banned from the city's GP surgeries, clinics and offices in favour of a plastic alternative.
"The city" refers to Manchester only. This was the equivalent of a city council decision, not British govt. as implied by the headline.

Last week I noticed that the folks running the Olympics had forced YouTube to take down some clips taken during the games. This is becoming widespread.

Only high-capacity clips (over 1 minute in length).

What they should ban is duh-clips (duck lips) that all the women are sporting these days.

I don't care if it was just one company, one city, or one gov't agency that banned the clips... It's still the STUPIDEST THING I EVER HEARD OF.

They need to go back to straight pins... actually originally called bankers pins... before staplers and paper clips banks used to pin paper together.

Must be brought to you by the same idiots who evacuate a whole building and call in hazardous materials cleanup crews over one broken mercury thermometer.
