We can dance if we want to. We can leave your friends behind.
Because your friends dont dance and if they dont dance well they aint no friends of mine.

Their actions are self centered and they don't care how distracting they are to respectful visitors to such a great memorial. Go hold your protest on the steps or on the lawn.

This behavior inside the memorial is a disgrace and should not be allowed.

I only see the part after LEO shows up,what was happening before they showed up? If they were demonstrating and causing a public nuisance at a national monument causing a problem for people visiting the nmonument then they need to take it somewhere else

I've seen some people dance and their dancing should be considered criminal. I would fit into that category except that I can't stand to dance and don't, much to my wife's chagrin.

My daughters think my dancing should be illegal. That is the only reason I keep doing it.

    Look.

I don't like disrespecting national monuments. I don't like flag burning (ours or anybody's). I don't like book burning, Bibles, or books or Korans or any other.

    But.

This is the United States of America, the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads as follows:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
While in poor taste, I don't really see anything un-peacable about the expression of speech by dancing at the Jefferson Memorial. Perhaps disrespectful, but not un-peaceable. I actually look at these arrests as civil rights violations.

I may be wrong. But I don't like it.

If you want to fly the Stars and Bars.. have at it... your side lost. If you want to display the swastika flag... have at it, your side lost. If you want to associate with losers... by all means, that's your right.

In fact, the Second Amendment right is the people's defense of all the others.

Dance, if you wanna. I believe it is my duty to defend your right to do so, even though I may not like your choice of venue.

Yeah, the guy with a shirt that says 'disobey' (and lives up to it) got the smack down - love it.

So, you're not a "cold, dead hands" kinda guy either, I take it... when they tell you to turn 'em in... you'll be first in line, right?

No, but I won't be in their face about it either... I believe in mutual respect.

He asked that they not do it or they'll go to jail.

I would have stopped, called to verify and let the local department know what was going on and see what they said. I can see these people being disruptive of others if they are dancing about and bumping into others who are there to actually take in the monument.

Of course, I'm a married father of 3 small kids so my time is better spent with them than in jail so I can make a point (whatever that was). This simply wasn't a battle that needed 'winning' in my opinion.

Yes it is... And even for them... as much as I hate them for what they do... they have the right to do it... And those with any shred of patriotism in them, will defend their right to have their little protests... all the while, gathering larger numbers to express their right in opposition to them.
