Got a birthday present for my wife today (she picked it out)

I went into the LGS to get some AK ammo, and we looked around at everything - handguns, long guns, knives, etc. And she found a knife she wanted and then as we were checking out, she said she really liked one of the guns we looked at. So I said I'd get it for her as a birthday present and she was excited.

Here it is, a Cobra 9mm Derringer. It has quite a kick but it actually feels better to shoot than the KelTec PF9. And she loves this little gun. And just so you know, it isn't for her primary EDC. She has the Shield 9mm for that. This will be a BUG for her. She had her choice of 22LR, 22Mag, .38 and 9mm and she chose the 9mm since it has the same ammo as her EDC.

Okay, here you go. We went just after getting it and it

    1. Kicks pretty good. But I got a hint from someone else who has a similar one how to hold it and we'll try that on the next go around.
    2. When it kicks it slides up pretty far in your hand so hopefully the suggested hold will work better than what we're doing.
    3. You fire it and then cock it again and pull the trigger again. Single trigger for both barrels and both barrels only fire one after the other.
    4. The first several times of trying to extract the shell casings, it was a bit difficult, but it seems to be getting easier, the more we do it. There are a couple of rough edges on the extractor (manual extractor) which could probably be smoothed down a bit using a dremel tool.
    5. We only have a 50 foot range to shoot at right now, so it was not so good at long range. I hit the target once and my wife didn't hit it at all and we both fired about 10 - 14 rounds each through it. So, we need a shorter range to find out how to aim it.

And that is basically it. But she is happy with it and wants to keep working on getting more accurate with it, which is more than I can say about the KelTec PF9 which she used to own but hated to fire and wouldn't practice with it.

Am definitely looking forward to going shooting again with it. I was thinking I might want one for myself too, just for the fun of it.

Cool little gun. As a bug it seems to fit her niche, glad she likes it and practices with it. Well done. Happy wife, happy life.

Funny you should say that. She needed the BenGay for her wrist when shooting the KelTec PF9. But the derringer didn't bother her at all. She loved it. And it didn't hurt her hand (go figure).
