I'm sure this would be much better if I was at my relatives' house in northern Michigan

Saw a few really fast movers last night before the clouds got too dense. May have to try again tonight .

Got home late last night with my daughter and the neighbor pulled in with his. I said hi and said I'd just seen a shooting star. We all stood out there for a while and saw about 6 of them in a 10 minute period. Didn't know there was a shower until today. :)
It's kind of like how some people have a sudden and insatiable desire to talk about vampires after the Twilight series became popular, except zombies are much less gay and more likely to exist one day

Long ago and far away, I was on top of Half Dome in Yosemite during the summer "showers." Fairly warm, with practically zero humidity. It was so clear that satellites could be seen zipping by, glinting on the sun that had set 3-4hrs earlier. The meteors that could be seen were practically everywhere, with an occasional "monster" that showed a huge tail across the sky. "Good for the soul" is a good way to describe it.

Nothing like the absence of light pollution to enhance the show. Used to really enjoy being way up in the mountains at night when I was stationed in California, winter nights with a full moon were especially spectacular.

Went back out tonight with my daughter. Clearer skies and saw about 9. 2-3 really nice ones.
