    Can anyone tell me why?

    People listen to Alex Jones?
I mean seriously. I guess we could say he is the journalistic equivalent of professional wrestling. But does anyone who listens to him or reads his stuff ever bother to fact check the stories? People here keep posting links to his stuff, I read it. I read the documents he links to looking to find what he is talking about and it isn't there. Or even better it says exactly the opposite of what he tells us.

Example: The other day someone posted a video that had one of his talking heads going on about a state department document that was the U.N. guide to taking our guns away. That document (from 1961) did become law. It is part of title 22 United States Code. That law includes the following section.
    22 U.S.C. 2573 : US Code - Section 2573: Policy formulation
    (a) Formulation
The Secretary of State shall prepare for the President, and the
heads of such other Government agencies as the President may
determine, recommendations and advice concerning United States arms
    control, nonproliferation, and disarmament policy.
    (b) Prohibition
No action shall be taken pursuant to this chapter or any other
Act that would obligate the United States to reduce or limit the
Armed Forces or armaments of the United States in a militarily
significant manner, except pursuant to the treaty-making power of
the President set forth in Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the
Constitution or unless authorized by the enactment of further
affirmative legislation by the Congress of the United States.
    (c) Statutory construction
Nothing contained in this chapter shall be construed to authorize
any policy or action by any Government agency which would interfere
with, restrict, or prohibit the acquisition, possession, or use of
firearms by an individual for the lawful purpose of personal
defense, sport, recreation, education, or training.
Is it just me or does that not look like a blueprint for disarming us?

He had a great story about how troops were being trained for riot control and would not to fire warning shots. His "leaked" document was a training manual for Military Police school. It was available to anyone through the government printing office. The one mention of warning shots was just like what we get in our licensing class. It also went on about how deadly force is the last resort. It also said excluding exceptional circumstances (someone stealing nuclear weapons etc) that if the mission could not be accomplished without using deadly force the commander should delay the operation until sufficient non deadly force could be brought to bear.
But that was not what he was telling us.......

I have yet to find a story where the linked documents actually say what he says they say.
    Why is that?

    Why is that?

Because the hippies of the 60's/70's are now running our federal govt.
Socialism Kills! Time proven, with a very large body count! We are a Constitutional Republic....... not a Democracy, get it correct!

Alex is spot in on some things, way off on others. Such is the beast of talk radio. Remember, in the end, it is entertainment as well as information.

I think his appeal is mainly to those who realize that the inmates are and have been running the asylum in Washington, and that we are being sold down the river by the politicians who will not address our country's real issues, like the deficit, drug wars, and continual push against our rights.

Should we be concerned about what he embellishes? Disarmament of civilians? Government not working for our best interest? Being sold out by those in charge?

I mean, come on, guys, if you study history, you will see that those in charge have no problem with any of those things.

With the money issues, which no one seems to have a handle on, we are obviously headed for either a huge money devaluation (remember the Mexican Peso devaluation of the 90's?) and another worse market crash, or a realignment that will fundamentally change our way of life, because no one will address all of those issues. They just keep kicking that can down the road. If there is a major economic collapse, it all becomes problematic.

Would the US send troops against American Citizens?

Already happened many times in the past: Shay's Rebellion, The Whiskey Rebellion...maybe something more recent? The Bonus Army War of Washington DC???

And those of us that remember the LA Riots, or Katrina carnage, know that we need our 2nd Amendment for when that government either cannot act, will not act, or simply abdicates the duty to protect its citizens in a natural or man made disaster. So our leaders have abandoned us then, they could (and probably would) abandon us now, which is one of his points. And if Blue Helmets are sent to other countries, why would they not be sent here? Our current leaders seem to be leading us down a path of destruction, which I do not want to see happen here. Do I want foreign soldiers on MY streets? Uhm, nope.

Anyway, I like listening to his show and do what I do at Good Will stores......sift through it all and look for the gems that remain.

Can you point me to any of those gems? So far all I have found in my sifting I haven't found any. I get the entertainment angle but information? I can't remember a single time I have looked at anything he has put out and it has been factually accurate.
As far as looking at history and lets say the bonus marchers........ That was when? Are any of those people even breathing anymore, much less making any kinds of decisions? So why are we suppsed to believe that the people in D.C. think the same way as the people ninety years ago? Should we expect every law man in the south to be Bull Connor? He is much more recent than the bonus march. And speaking of the south and troops lets not forget the 101st Airborne escorting the Little Rock Nine. The president ordered the Army to protect the rights of citizens.

Since the LA riots and Katrina we have Heller and MacDonald. The law is different now.

It is one thing to "embellish" but I don't think I would call deliberately distorting something and leading people to believe it says exactly the opposite of what it does qualifies as embllishment.

Well lets just say there is a reason you don't see the results in the sports section of the newspaper.

( But I guess that could just be part of the leftist mainstream media conspiracy)
