I went for a walk Yesterday afternoon and I learned a few things about my land. I walked all the way to the back of my property on a logging road and then I walked back to my house in the creek (it runs lengthwise through my property).
During my walk I found out that.............I OWN MY VERY OWN PRIVATE ISLAND!!! My creek splits in two and I have a real, honest to goodness island. It's about 1/2 an acre. Pretty cool huh? Who else can say they have their own island?.....atctimmy can! :)
Second thing was that during my walk I saw 12 deer plus another 4 in the field when I got back to the house. I think deer season is going to be very interesting. : )

Can I vacation on your island?
I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.
Now you can have an island retreat, and you should name it.....
I see deer in the practice football field behind the high school in my town, but I think they wouldn't like me hunting there

It's my Island!

BTW, I've been stalking a coyote in the evenings this week, and I'm seeing a massive deer population!

How about a DC "island invasion" GTG?
Do you have a cargo box ordered to be installed underground on your island? Starting to prep? Is the water deep enough to keep the zombie hoard away? Most important question atctimmy, do you have a good place to shoot?
Congrats on the new country life.

"Who else can say they have their own island?"
We can, or could. We have two on our old family place. One's the "Duck Blind" and one's the "Party Island."
Only problem is that the lake's so unnaturally low that both are 100 yards from the nearest water at present.

I have a family by the name of Bugg down in Virginia. Apparently they had an "island" home in a river bought from the local native Chief for the price of a flintlock rifle. They called the place Bugg's Island. It is currently under water in a Corp. of Engineers inpoundment lake.
You could name your island New Buggs Island in honour of my ancestors.
Just a suggestion. I liked the name thought it would fit.

Ah, island life! Grass skirts, umbrella drinks, sunsets....
That's my kind of island!
If you have never broken your gun or bled on your gun in training, you're doing it wrong!
Train hard, live easy.
I'd have a serious rifle range.
As we used to teach in the spook business, carry a 25 if it makes you feel good, but do not ever load it. If you load it you may shoot it. If you shoot it you may hit somebody, and if you hit somebody - and he finds out about it - he may be very angry with you. -- Jeff Cooper
Is that creek big enough to fish? Bass would be a good addition to it if it is big enough. Nothing like having some sort of a relaxing outdoor sport year round.
