Numerous years ago. A guy (I had met) once had 5 guys come to his door (semi in the country) at 11 p.m. and knocking on the door. He knew 3 of them. He opened the door slightly (.45 1911 behind his back) to see what they needed..... that's when they started trying to suddenly push the door open (2-3 had guns he hadn't seen up to that point).... and he began firing. 3 of them were dead, the other 2 were wounded. Ruled a justified shooting... and the other two that survived (1 barely) .... went to prison for life for murder.

Point is this, you won't have 'time' to go get a gun if it happens. Second, you won't have but a milli-second to decide & react / act to defend yourself. Cooperating with people who have come to my home "armed" and to "force" their way into my house, is not anywhere in my game plan.

Wow, that is some of the worst advice I have ever seen. The "just give them what they want" mentality is what allowed 9/11 to happen. 125 people against 5 people armed with box cutters. Only in the land of wimps should that ever work....but it did. Why?

My advice to anyone victimized by a home invasion is to fight like a lion. Gouge eyes, punch, kick and bite someone's ear off if you have to. Do whatever it takes to live.

It is my opinion that every home owner should own at least one firearm and be proficient in it's use. If this were a reality there would be FAR less home invasions and even fewer repeat offenders.

You people are just not sensitive to the criminals needs. Most violent offenders are on the cusp of turning their life around. After just one more robbery,rape or murder. My wife heard this video as I listened ,I cannot repeat what she said,forum rules.

Do not know where this so called expert came from, but have a feeling he has never been on the the wrong end of the barrel. Rounds fired or not. Been there and done that, didn't take the shirt. If gain acces to our home, past alarm and dog, then he/she/they are fair game. Tn Castle Doctrine states if entry gained illegally then the premise is they intend bodily harm or death. As to the maybe not knowing how to use the weapon, LE and military training, our own range on property, plan for just such scenario, and lots of range time. Wife and I on one end of house and daughter ( 20 yr old MP in National Guard ) in other end. She has
lots of training in clearing etc. Never the less I will not take the chance with any one who makes the concious effort to invade my home, that they will take what I give them and happily depart. I will protect my family with my last breath, but lay 100 to 1 odds I will not go down alone. Training, range time, and knowledge of the playing field plus serious choice of weapons gives if only a very slight advantage. A buddy once asked " What kind of a man would you be if you wimped out, gave it up, and still it happened?" Take the fight forward, press it with all the aggretion you can muster till the threat stops. You only have one family. Remember there is no substitution for planning and training with your weapon.
