Anyone here ever stationed at JBER (Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson) also known as Elmendorf AFB and Fort Richardson. Curious how small this world really is.

Waaaaaaay back in 1986...
We lived in AK for 7 years. We were out in the Aleutians on Adak Naval Airstation...we spent time in Anchorage each of those years.
Elmendorf AFB was in Anchorage and Ft. Richardson was in Fairbanks...now both are combined in Anchorage at Elmendorf.
You'll love Alaska, lots to see within driving distance of Anchorage. Take a 20 minute drive and you could get lost in the wilderness, attacked by wolf, bear, or moose.(Not really, but it could happen.)
I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to go there.

Fort Wainwright--1991-1996
Loved it--miss it!!
And to retsupt99: I have spent time at Adak and remember well the "Adak Naitonal forest" with all 10-15 trees :danceban:
