German Cannabis Crop: Elderly Bavarian Farmer Accidentally Plants Field Of Hemp

According to CNBC, the 74-year-old Bavarian man told police that he wanted to plant sunflowers in a fallow field that he normally uses for growing potatoes.

Since he didn't have any sunflower seeds handy, the farmer decided to scatter bird seed around the field instead. According to the Local, the bird seed mix that he used contained hemp, resulting in an unintentional crop of more than 1,000 cannabis plants.

Yeah, "accidentally" my arse. That's exactly what I'd say if I was 74... "Oh, I'm old and confused... what did I plant again, sonny? And do you have any Cheetos?"

Farmer Accidentally Plants Field Of Hemp ... some birds eat well
Look for migration patterns to head north for the winter, this year.

And the inevitable government-funded study next year to explain why.

We do I get the feeling that there are going to be a lot of people planting birdseed?

In Bavaria there's been a sudden, unexplained run on smoked turkey sandwiches, Doritos & Oreos. Wonder why?

I'm sure he thought he was planting hops... might have made for an interesting brew, just in time for Oktoberfest.

He planted hemp. Its harmless except for the headache you'll get if you try to smoke it. It makes great livestock bedding material and other practical uses. It is not something to get high on.
They ban it because it looks like the stuff you can get high on but does not have the actual properties of the stuff it looks like. Does reasoning behind the ban on hemp sound familiar to anyone? Kinda like the ban on certain rifles because while they may look like an evil military assault rifle the similarities ends with the appearance. The ban on hemp is even more idiotic than the ban on so called assault rifles.

Hemp rope meant $millions$ in Navy contracts until, legend has it, DuPont invented Nylon. "Influence" was then exerted (bribes were paid) to certain members of Congress to include heap with marijuana as a dangerous (re: banned) crop. The hemp business collapsed and the $$$$$$$$$$ contracts went to DuPont & their stockholders (wink, wink). There's a tiny town named "Hemp Hill" near Lexington Ky. that was, prior to these events, a thriving agricultural center. The actual truth may (or may not) differ from this story, but that's where I learned it.
