There is another helo rescue that was considered impossible on Mt. Everest. No helo had ever attempted a rescue as high as this one. It was described to me as, "...The pilot had to use the side(s) of mountain slopes to get a "ground force" lift effect.

I agree, the military chopper guys are the besthwithout a doubt.
I was LSE (landing signalman enlisted) on the Helo deck of a destroyer and was very impressed avery single time they landed on that tiny patch of metal while the ship was pitching and managed not to chop me to pieces (just about messed my drawers a few times though). Great pilots, great bunch of guys.

Absolutly amazing. The word goes that this type of helo does not fly by aerodynamics, but instead beats the air into submission.....Looks like he gave the air a good beating.... very impressive.

By the way- All Army pilots, whether Army active duty, Army National Guard or Army Reserve, have exactly the same training, testing, flight standards, medical standards and flight hour requirements.

truly impressive! but if you were involved in the southeast asian war games you wouldn't believe the things our huey pilots pulled off. they are the bravest & most skilled i have the honor to have known. we should never have come in second place.
